A church minister has been arraigned in court facing charges of falsely receiving money by pretending that he was in a position to sponsor eleven people to go work in Canada.
The accused Evans Murungaru Kamiti was paraded before acting chief magistrate Daniel Ochienja.
He denied eleven accounts and was ordered to deposit Sh 1 million plus two sureties of similar amount to secure release pending the hearing of his criminal case.
The prosecution said the accused who is bishop with Jesus Prophetic ministry had on diverse date 3 and 26 of February 20134 received Sh 200,000 from Wangechi Ndungu by falsely pretending that he in a position to secure her a visa and work permit in Canada.
He further over Sh 200,000 from Dominic Njuki Kimani, Edward Nduati Mwihia, Daniel Gathuru Kiarie, Sarah Mukui Githanga, Teresia Wanjiku Kamau, Gladys Musyoka Lamech Mwangi Samuel Eli Mathiji, Joseph Njoroge and Eunice Ayako Ochiel all were to benefit from the accused in getting visa and work permit in Canada.
