HIGH COURT HAS HALTED NAIROBI COUNTY GOVERNMENT FROM LEVYING MEMBERS OF KENYA TAX ASSOCIATION.

Nairobi County Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko leaves Milimani Law Court accompanied by members of tax association after he obtained orders restraining Nairobi County Government from levying members of the association.

High court has ordered Nairobi County Government not levy car park fee to the members of  Kenya Tax Association, pending the hearing and determination of the a suit before  court.
Justice Isaac Lenaola directed the county government further not tax members who paid single permit effective from 11 March 2014.
Nairobi senate Mike Sonko has also been enjoined to the suit filed by the members of the tax association and urged to file his response to the petition within seven days and the matter be listed for hearing on 4 April 2014.
The senator in his application for enjoyment says that he will seek redress for the enforcement of the Nairobi County Finance Act, 2012 as it relates to the levies and parking fees that are unconstitutionally imposed.
Sonko will further contesting and demonstrate that senate role was ignored in the legislative process of the relevant county finance Act, 2012.
