United Democratic Forum Party leader Musalia Mudavidi has suffered a setback after the Political Party Tribunal overturned pronouncement to suspend the party’s national chairman and executive officials
The tribunal found and held that the action to remove nominated MP Mr. Hassan Osman along with party’s national executive committee officials was unprocedural and unlawful.
It said that the party leader ought to follow the raid down procedure in removing national officials as provided for in the party’s constitution.
The action by tribunal was caused by the application filed under certificate of urgency by Wycliffe Oyondi Okeo, Caroline Muthoni Boy and Pauline Achieng Abetto being acting chairman, secretary and women league chairperson respectively.
The officials accuse Mudavidi Jeremiah Kioni, Petronilla Were and Kassim Sawa for violating the party’s constitution by purporting to suspend them, without according them a hearing.
The aggrieved officials through their lawyer Hassan Lakicha told the tribunal, that an order should be issued to restrain the registrar of political parties from acting and effecting the purported suspension, pending the hearing of the dispute before it.
The matter is now fixed for hearings on 8 October 2014 inter parties.
