A 22 year Irene Adhiambo escorted by a police woman to Milimani law courts basement cells after she was sentenced for 5years without a option of bail after she pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing a four months baby ( November 14, 2014).

A 22 year old woman has been slapped with a five year sentence after she pleaded guilty of scheming and stealing a four months old baby in Kiamaiko Huruma Nairobi.
She was before a Nairobi senior principal magistrate Enock Cherono.The mother of two Irene Adhiambo pleaded guilty and consequently asked the court and the complainant to have mercy on her.
However after keenly listening to her senior principal magistrate while pronouncing the five year sentence to the accused said that the act of stealing is a serious offence and it has caused the trauma to the mother of the child.
Irene is said to of have visited the complainant in Kiamaiko Hurumu and made away with her baby after she had gone out to the shop. Irene Adhiambo stole the baby on the 26th of October this year and left for Kawangware here in Nairobi where the baby was recovered after a three weeks search by the parent and the police.
Irene was arrested at Muthangari police station and taken to the Huruma police station.
She was imprisoned without an option of a fine but she has a 14-day window to appeal at the high court.
