BY SAM ALFAN.
Battle lines have been drawn between Governor Alfred Mutua and his deputy Bernard Kiala, Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala as Kiala moves to court to sue Mutua.
Kiala is seeking an order restraining Mutua from withholding his rights and privileges that come with the office of the Deputy Governor.
The Deputy Governor claims that the governor has withdrawn the privileges enjoyed by him in his capacity as Deputy Governor such as his security detail, allowances and medical insurance among others.
Kiala who for the better part of 2014, was engaged in a war of words with Alfred Mutua, has yet again moved to court, alleging that the Governor has withdrawn privileges that he is supposed to enjoy as a deputy Governor.
He says that the county Government has been making deliberate efforts to frustrate him by also withholding his personal property.
He also wants the court to issue an order restraining the County Government from unlawfully detaining his vehicle and the valuables in it and an order compelling the respondent to provide the applicant with an official vehicle.
Kiala also wants the court to reinstate the withdrawn security personnel, suspended secretary, medical cover, travel allowance, and not to be barred from sitting in cabinet meetings which he is a member.
He claims that Machakos County Government under instructions from the Governor has frustrated all his attempts to participate in the running of the affairs of the county when he is also duly elected to do so. He claims the respondents have made several attempts to kick him out of office but have failed on several occasions and have thus resorted to intimidation, assault and harassment of the applicant.
He also accuses them of trying to prevent him from using the county facilities and expressing his opinions about the manner in which the country is being run.
