A Nairobi court has given police three days to conclude investigations and file charges against Kabete MP George Muchai’s murder suspects.
This is after the murder suspects of slain Kabete Member of parliament George Muchai were today arraigned in court before principal magistrate Joseph karanja.
The five men and two ladies were Erick Isabwa alias chairman, Raphael Kimani alias butcher, Mustafa Anyoni alias musto,Stephen Lipapu alias chokori,Jane Kimani Shiro,Margaret Njeri Wachuri and Simon Wambugo alias chambachamba.
The prosecution sought 21 more days to have the accused persons detained as investigation is in its final stage to enable citation of concrete charges against accused persons. Prosecution said that they need to take blood samples of four of the accused persons to determine whether they match blood stains which were found on deceased car.
However accused persons protested the request by prosecution saying that they have been subjected to torture in police custody hence insisted to be awarded either bail or bond terms to save them from police cruelty. On their side, prosecution contented that some of the accused persons are not first time offenders as they were one time charged with robbery with violence at kibra law courts hence requested time to reply to accused persons request of being released on either bail or bond terms.
Court however gave prosecution 3 days to prefer charges against accused persons or give concrete reasons as to why they should not be released. The court further ordered that accused be taken to Kenyatta hospital and report be presented before it on 15 March 2015 over the alleged torture by the police.
